Creating Social Change through Captive Art™
Veteran Art 2019
The opening reception of our Veteran Art 2019 exhibition was a fantastic success! Veterans and community
groups from around the state participated, with live music, food, and even dancing!
The exhibit features art created by incarcerated Veterans from around the United States, and will be on exhibit until November 30th - stop by the A/NT Gallery at Seattle Center and join us in celebrating & supporting Veteran Captive Art™!
A Touch of Light is committed to helping create restorative & rehabilitative opportunities for military Veterans who have
faced incarceration after serving their country. We feel that the Arts have great potential to help heal & restore those who have suffered the double trauma of combat service and incarceration, and help them chart a new path for the future.
This year we were tremendously honored to have the following groups as our special guests:
-
The American Legion Band's Brass Quintet will be providing musical entertainment
-
Brigadoon Service Dogs, working with incarcerated veterans to train service animals
-
Adonai Counseling & Employment, our Re-Entry Services partner, which helps provide
re-entry support & resources throughout Washington State -
Trevani Truffles, a local Seattle chocolate maker, will be providing delicious sweet treats
made from organic, locally-sourced ingredients -
Veteran Rites, a veteran-run Seattle nonprofit focused on creating healing spaces & workshops for veterans recovering from PTSD/trauma.
We're very grateful to A/NT Gallery and the Seattle Center for hosting us, to 4Culture & DuShea's Coffee for sponsoring the show, and to the wonderful folks at KBTC and VFW Post 3063 for their help in promoting the show. THANK YOU!
